Chris Canty’s agent said he’s not necessarily expecting a contract offer from the Packers before his client finishes his visit to Green Bay today.

Canty, a free-agent defensive lineman, arrived in Green Bay on Wednesday night and today is meeting with team officials.

Brad Blank, Canty’s agent, said that as of mid-afternoon he hadn’t talked to Canty or the Packers. He said the Packers probably will want to examine the results of Canty’s medical exam before deciding whether to offer a contract, and that decision could come after Canty has left Green Bay.

Canty already has visited the Tennessee Titans and Kansas City Chiefs. Though unrestricted free agents can’t sign with teams until the new league year starts Tuesday, Canty can sign with a new team at any time because the New York Giants cut him this offseason.
