Acclaimed one-man funk band Keller Williams will perform Friday in the Laird Room of Dreyfus University Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. with opening act Joseph Huber.

Williams defined the term "independent artist" when he first appeared on the music scene in the early 1990s. His live shows are constructed around Williams singing original and cover songs while accompanying himself on an acoustic guitar connected to a Gibson Echoplex delay system, which allows him to simulate a full band.

"I wanted something organic with a dance groove that I could create myself," Williams says about his music. "Nothing is prerecorded. Everything is created onstage in front of the audience."

Tickets cost $22 in advance and $27 the day of the show. They are available at the UWSP ticket office in Dreyfus University Center or by calling 715-346-4100.
