Traffic crashes killed 28 people in Wisconsin in February, marking the fifth safest February since the end of World War II.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation released preliminary traffic crash statistics on Thursday. The safest February on record occurred in 2011 with 22 traffic fatalities statewide, and the deadliest was in 1968 with 73 fatalities reported.

Marathon County has had five traffic fatalities so far in 2013, all of which occurred in February, according to figures on the Wisconsin Department of Transportation website. Lincoln County has not yet reported a traffic ...
