The mother of a Wisconsin Rapids man killed when his friend accidentally shot him is asking a Wood County judge to show leniency.

In a letter to the judge, Pamela Monfre said Tyler C. Enkro, 22, town of Grant, should not go to jail. Enkro pleaded no contest Thursday in Wood County Circuit Court to homicide by the intoxicated use of a firearm in the 2011 shooting death of Nick Hoffmann.
