State gymnastics meet in Sturgeon Bay

The YMCA State Gymnastics Championships will be held March 15 to 17 in Sturgeon Bay at Sturgeon Bay High School and T.J. Walker Middle School.

Approximately 1,000 gymnasts in levels 2 through 10 are expected to compete in the three-day event, hosted by the Door County YMCA.

Volunteers are needed. To help, contact the Door County YMCA at (920) 743-4949.

Babe Ruth baseball meeting Monday

A Sturgeon Bay Babe Ruth Baseball League meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Baylake Bank Conference Center in Sturgeon Bay.

Anyone interested in coaching during the 2013 season should attend.

The league is open to Door County boys ages 13 to 15 as of April 30.

DCL baseball meeting March 24

A Door County League baseball preseason meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. March 24 at Birmingham's Bar in Sturgeon Bay.

The league needs a secretary/treasurer for the 2013 season. If interested, contact Jocko Rader at 743-3522.

Door County Youth Trap League forming

A youth trap shooting league is scheduled to begin March 30 at the Door County Rod and Gun Club in Sturgeon Bay.

The Door County Youth Trap League is open to boys and girls older than 10 with permission from their parents or legal guardians.

The six-week league will rotate between the Rod and Gun Club and the Gardner Rifle Club.

The clubs will provide guns and eye and ear protection. Cost is $45 for shells and targets.

Bays' schedule includes game in Metrodome

The Sturgeon Bay American Legion baseball team will play a 25-game regular-season schedule in 2013, highlighted by a trip to the Metrodome in Minneapolis, manager George Husby announced Thursday.

The Bays are scheduled to open their season June 1 at home against Menominee, Mich. They will travel July 2 to the Metrodome, home of the Minnesota Twins, for a game against Viroqua.

The Bays' entire 2013 schedule can be found online at www.eteamz.com\sblegion. Admission will be free to all of the Bays' home games this year, said Husby.

Players from Sturgeon Bay and Southern Door school districts who didn't receive a mailing but would like to play for Sturgeon Bay Legion or Junior Legion should contact Husby at 743-6322.

Little League softball registration goes to March 30

Registration for the 2013 Sturgeon Bay Girls Little League softball season is under way.

Registration forms can be found online at www.sbgirlsll.wordpress.com or obtained at Invidia Salon or St. John Bosco School in Sturgeon Bay. Deadline is March 30.

The league is open to Door County girls between the ages of 7 and 15. It includes four different age divisions, starting with Farm League for 7- and 8-year-olds, Minor League (9-10), Major League (11-12) and Junior League (13-15).
