Plastics recycling could change in Brown County: Brown County wants to increase residential recycling by allowing all plastics, as well as milk and juice cartons, to be recycled. The move could happen by the end of 2013.

Brown County residents might be able to put more items in their recycling bins later this year.

Officials hope that adding more plastics, and paper-based milk and juice cartons, to the items that don't have to be thrown in the trash will spur an overall increase in recycling.

"It's difficult for a regular person to understand why there's a difference in types of plastics," said Mark Walter, facility manager for the county Port & Solid Waste Department. "With what we are proposing, you will have less of a thought process in terms of having to sort all of your (plastic) recyclables." ...
