Accused arsonist set for competency evaluation

The mental competency is being questioned for a man charged Thursday with setting a small fire earlier this week at Dollar Land, 1020 N. Irwin Ave.

James Parrish, 53, of Green Bay was charged with arson as a hate crime, first-degree recklessly endangering safety and carrying a concealed weapon. He will be held in the Brown County Jail on a $40,000 cash bond pending a competency hearing tentatively set for March 18.

His defense lawyer, Shannon Viel, said he may try to get that date moved up because Parrish is not getting access to his medications in jail and needs to be working with the Brown County ...
