Brian Wardle tried to call a timeout.

For the sake of his University of Wisconsin-Green Bay men's basketball team, it's a good thing none of the three referees saw him.

With the Phoenix coach's hands over his head signaling "T" for a timeout, junior guard Sultan Muhammad drilled a 3-pointer right in front of him with 1.3 seconds left in Friday's Horizon League tournament quarterfinal against Illinois-Chicago. That shot was the difference-maker in fourth-seeded UWGB's 64-63 victory over the fifth-seeded Flames. ...
