Colby, Owen-Withee lose sectional final games

CHIPPEWA FALLS - Colby used a third-quarter run to make things close, but Colfax pulled away to win 42-34 in a WIAA Division 4 final that kept Colby one game shy of reaching the state tournament.

"Colby was a very good team," Colfax coach Joe Doucette said. "They were one of the most physical teams and one of the strongest, biggest teams we've played. They exposed some things and had some success inside, but I was proud of the way we hung in there."

Sarah Gamillo led Colby with 11 points, but scored nine of them in the first half before a reenergized Colfax defense took the floor in the second half. ...
