It probably never will be used to chase down a speeder, but the Wausau Police Department's newest car still could help give you a ticket.

The car is a Toyota Prius hybrid that runs on both gasoline and electricity. The $23,700 car is being used by the city's parking patrol and could be the first step in a new initiative to help the city go green.

If the car proves to be a good investment, city property inspectors or other workers who don't need the utility of a truck or size of a large sedan could be assigned hybrids, Public Works and Utilities Director Brad Marquardt said. ...
