March 10, 1947 - WPS seeking authority to sell natural gas: Wisconsin Public Service corporation today filed an application with the Public Service commission for authority to distribute and sell natural gas in the areas now served by the company's gas system located in Green Bay, De Pere, Allouez, Preble and the town of De Pere, as well as in the Sheboygan-Chilton area, Oshkosh and Two Rivers, according to A.J. Goedjen, vice president.

The contract with the pipe line company calls for the construction of an $85,000,000 pipe line system, to be under way in July, 1948, and it is hoped that natural gas will be ready for delivery in the Green Bay area within two years from the start of construction.

At present, the Wisconsin Public Service corporation has found it necessary to restrict the use of gas for heating homes and other buildings.
