Kandy Girl makes owner's sweet dreams come true

Sheryl Young of Chili dreamed since she was in high school of opening a candy store with an old-fashioned appearance reminiscent of a scene from "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory."

After 20 years of dreaming, Young opened Kandy Girl on Feb. 14 with the help of family and friends.

The store's inventory includes bubble gum, candy insects, chocolate-dipped foods, fine chocolates, lollipops, taffy, hard-to-find novelty sodas and inexpensive candy that children can buy for 15 or 25 cents. ...
