Nickname: Golden Eagles

Coach: Jim Myers (641-136, 36th season)

Enrollment: 111

Miles from Resch: 170

Record: 26-1 (12-0 Six Rivers Conference, first place)

State appearance: eighth

Last time at state: 2007

Notes: The champions of the Six Rivers Conference, Barneveld is perhaps the biggest surprise of the Division 5 field after upsetting the reigning State champion and top ranked Heritage Christian 49-46 in the Watertown Sectional final. Head coach Tim Myers is in his 37th season with the Golden Eagles, as Barneveld is making its 8th trip to State and looking for its first title since 2005. Barneveld also captured State titles in 1995, 1998 and 1999. Barneveld is the deepest team in the Division 5 field, playing all 11 players on its roster in all but one game this season. Sophomore Rachel Slaney and freshman Hannah Whitish lead the way for the Golden Eagles, scoring 15.1 and 14.6 points-per-game, respectively. Madi Laube, the lone senior on a roster complete with seven juniors, two sophomores and a freshman, also adds 11.6 points-per-game. Barneveld has won its last 15 games since losing to fellow State participant Assumption 41-44 for the Golden Eagle’s only loss this season.

Quote: "The WIAA has worked really hard with Green Bay and I think they are going to put on a real show for us.” Head coach Jim Myers on moving the State tournament to the Resch Center.
