Notes: South Shore is unblemished at 26-0 and making its first trip to State since being runner-up in 2004. This is coach Gustafsonís 14th season as a head coach, but his first season coaching girls basketball. Gustafson coached 13 different seasons for the South Shore varsity boys basketball team from 1990-2005. Leading the way for the South Shore Cardinals is coach Gustafsonís daughters Megan and Emily Gustafson. Sophomore Megan Gustafson leads the state in scoring at 31.1 points-per-game and grabs 12.7 rebounds-per-game, while senior Emily Gustafson adds 18 points-per-game and she leads the state in rebounding at 17.7 per-game. Janice Anderson chips in with 16.7 points-per-game, as no other South Shore player averages more than 3.5 points-per-game. The Cardinals advanced to the Division 5 State semifinal by defeating perennial power Owen-Withee 61-53 in the Spooner Sectional final. They are the champions of the West Division of the Indianhead Conference. South Shore leads the Division 5 finalists with 73.7 points-per game while shooting 53.9 percent from the field.
