It's time to stand up to NRA

I just read Larry Bivins' article on the influence of the NRA. NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam flaunted the group's supposed 4.5 million members as their "big stick" and why our elected officials should kowtow to their every whim. Really? This country has over 313 million citizens and we are held hostage by this fringe sect?

The national Book-of-the-Month club has 8.5 million members, AARP has over 40 million and Sam's Club has even more. Kind of puts the numbers in perspective. For all of us not beholdin' to the gun lobby, contact your congressman and our Senators Johnson and Baldwin so they know where our votes will be cast. It's as simple as a phone call or an email.

The time has come to punch the bully in the nose. Stop NRA President Wayne LaPierre and the gun manufacturing industry from extorting our representatives and using our children as human shields. If we remain silent, the blood is on our hands too.
