March 13, 1950 - Police to begin tax collections: Delinquent personal property taxes for 1949 in the city will be collected by the police department starting next week, City Treasurer Anton Stiller announced today.

The treasurer's staff is busy compiling the delinquent list and should finish its work by the end of the week, the treasurer said, adding that total delinquencies this year would be about $12,000.

Delinquent personal property taxes are collected at the treasurer's office in the city hall and draw a 2.4 percent interest penalty if paid during March. This is boosted by another eight-tenths of one percent in April.

The 1949 delinquent total is about normal, Stiller said. No figure is yet available on delinquencies in real estate taxes, Stiller expects to settle taxes with the county treasurer sometime next week.
