Excessive drinking in Marathon County costs residents more than the county spends on policing, the jail, social services, parks and recreation and all other services combined, according to a report released Tuesday.

Health First Wisconsin, an organization that works to curb tobacco use and alcohol abuse in Wisconsin, released a report Tuesday that details the cost of excessive alcohol use in the state. The report is the first of its kind.
