Different venue, same goal: Neillsville focuses on another title

The girls state basketball tournament has been held in Madison since its inception in 1976, but for the first time in 37 years the capital city will not play host. In 2013 that honor goes to the the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.

The change came about due to a scheduling conflict with the University of Wisconsin hockey program. The tournament could have been held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison or at the UW Fieldhouse, but the WIAA searched for the best venue and chose the Resch Center, which holds 9,300 fans to host the tournament for the next two seasons.
