Editor: The election of our school board candidates is just a month away. I encourage each voting member to consider carefully the background and intent of each of the candidates.

Amber Leifheit is the only candidate who has previous experience on our school board, having served as vice president of the board, chairwoman of Negotiations and Personnel Committees and has held a seat on the Finance, Curriculum and District Technology Committees as well as working with the School to Career Council.

Ms. Leifheit has also shown her dedication to our community by her willingness to serve Marshfield through Habitat for Humanity, the Healthy Lifestyle Coalition and the Personal Development Center. But even more important than these civic contributions, Amber Leifheit has demonstrated her commitment to education as Pied Piper Preschool administrator, serving on the Wood County Literacy Council, volunteering and substitute teaching in our schools, hosting a Sister Cities student from abroad and working with those in her P.E.O. chapter to financially support women's educational goals.

She will be an outstanding advocate for our excellent school district. My vote will go to Amber Leifheit. I hope yours will too.
