Joe Vos: Real fatherhood is hardly a chore

Pope John XXIII said that it's easier for a father to have children than for children to have a real father. I was reminded of this the other day when I overheard a conversation in which a man described his upcoming weekend as a chore because he was stuck babysitting his children while his wife was out of town at a business conference.

I was sickened by this man's attitude towards his children and fatherhood. I can't help but find fault with it on many levels.

The role of a father may be difficult or require hard work at times, but the word "chore" carries with it the connotation of unpleasantness. ...
