Columnist Nichols' argument invalid

MARIBEL - Mike Nichols' column about Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is an invalid argument. Attacking Clarke by calling him a "gunslinger" is attacking him personally, which is the weapon of choice of liberals everywhere. This is called an "ad hominem" argument. The idea that each of us is primarily responsible for our own safety is a good idea and it is not a new one.

If a burglar breaks into my house at 2 a.m., I am going to get my .357 and shoot him and then call 911. If I call 911 first, the burglar will have about 15 to 20 minutes to do whatever he wants to do and still escape. Additionally our Founding Fathers had several things in mind when they formulated the Second Amendment. One of those things was being able to depose a tyrannical government, and with the way things are going in our federal government these days we may have to.
