Algoma's girls basketball team defeated a familiar opponent in the sectional finals, and for the second time in the last three seasons - seventh time overall - the Wolves make an appearance at the WIAA's Division 4 Girls State Championship Tournament.
Top-seeded Algoma (24-2) captured a sectional championship with a 51-35 victory over Packerland rival No. 1 Oconto (21-5) in Waupaca on March 9. It was the Wolves' third victory over the Blue Devils this season. It's the second season in a row that Algoma has gone 3-0 against Oconto.
