The Green Bay Packers put linebacker A.J. Hawk through a physical today, according to a source, which can mean one of only three things:

1. He got a contract extension that contained a signing bonus.

2. He restructured his contract to take a pay cut.

3. He will be released.

The source familiar with the physical believed it was reason No. 2, and that Hawk would remain with the team.

Hawk was scheduled to make $5.45 million in base salary ($4.9 million) and bonuses ($550,000) this season.

Before teams can do anything with a player under contract, he must take a physical.

UPDATE (4:10 p.m.): A second source has confirmed that Hawk has agreed to a restructure the remaining three years of his contract. The source said the numbers were "fair."
