The University of Wisconsin System broke the law dozens of times in 2012 by paying employees for extra academic pay beyond the limits outlined in state statues, a Gannett Wisconsin Media review found.
State law limits full-time employees to $12,000 in extra pay annually, but records provided under Wisconsin open-record law reveal that some educators pulled in more than $20,000 in overages and a total of 60 are listed as exceeding the $12,000 limit. UW-Oshkosh was the worst offender, with the three highest extra-pay totals and seven of the top 10.
