Right now we have no checks and balances in our state government. The Assembly and Senate are Republican-controlled, the governor is a Republican and the Wisconsin Supreme Court is governed by a conservative block of four justices. It's been said, absolute power corrupts absolutely and we're seeing that situation play out in Wisconsin.
We've one last chance to balance the equation while Gov. Walker's in office. By electing Ed Fallone Supreme Court Justice on April 2, we can remove the "automatic rubber stamp" for the Walker agenda by voting Justice Patience Roggensack out of office. If we don't, the callous Walker agenda will continue unabated.
We're faced with the strong possibilities that "right to work for less legislation" and "environmentally disastrous mining legislation" will be appealed to the court, but will lead nowhere because the conservative bloc will deny the appeals.
Justice Roggensack brings much baggage to this race.
? She stood aside as Justice David Prosser (a conservative judge) assaulted (choked) Justice Ann Walsh Bradley in Chambers. She's blocking the prosecution of Prosser by claiming that she "didn't see enough" to testify in the case. This is typical conservative baloney!
? She's stood as a consenting ideologue for all "Walker-appealed" legislation coming to the court. Act 10 is the worst of these cases, but there are many others. It is time to elect a distinguished professor of law at Marquette University, Ed Fallone, to step in with the energy and vitality, to help restore integrity to the court.
For many of us, all we need to know is that Ed Fallone has been endorsed by both former Sen. Russ Feingold and former Congressman Dave Obey. These men stand for the values of hard work, fairness and understanding of important social issues.
I urge you to look at Ed Fallone's qualifications by visiting his website www.falloneforjustice.com and checking out his Facebook page and YouTube videos. I think you will agree that Ed Fallone has the intelligence, experience, dignity and compassion to become a truly "Supreme" Court Justice. Help "sack" Roggensack.
