The Wisconsin Division of Transportation will be holding a public informational meeting for the remaining section of Main Street reconstruction that will take place in 2016. The remaining section of roadway is from State Street all the way down to County Park Road. Some of the improvements that are planned are: Full pavement and curb & gutter replacement. Curb and gutter will be added along with sidewalk where feasible, from West Street to CTH MMM. Intersection improvements at Beaver Dam/Brandon Street and STH 68.
Bicycle and pedestrian facility improvements including sidewalks and bike lanes. Storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water main replacement including replacement of Harris Creek box culvert. Street lighting and traffic signal replacement.
This meeting will be held at the Waupun Public Library - Front Conference Room, 123 S. Forest St. on March 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m., with a short presentation followed by an informal open house format where representatives from the D.O.T. will be available to discuss the project and address your concerns and questions. They will also have exhibits on display to show the project details. If you are a homeowner in this impact area you should have received this information from the D.O.T., if for some reason you have not, you can contact City Hall and we can get you the contact person information.
The Missoula Children's Theatre was such a success with "The Tortoise and the Hare"; Waupun Festivals is bringing them back this fall with the production of "Treasure Island." Waupun Fine Arts will be the sponsor of this event that will take place the week of Oct. 21-25. We will get more information to you as we receive it.
Waupun Festivals has also started the planning of Waupun's 175th Anniversary that will be in 2014. We will be implementing this celebration, along with our annual "Celebrate Waupun" activities. Waupun Fine Arts is already talking about planning a ball in the City Hall Auditorium with some dance lessons prior to the event. We hope to have an area in the Community Center where the Waupun Historical Society can set up some displays with Waupun history; we will be working with them in the near future to begin planning and exchanging ideas. Our Waupun Festivals committee members have been extremely active since we organized in the fall of 2011. It has been exciting 1½ year's thanks to the dedication of this committee and so many fantastic volunteers.
Until next week?..
