.38 SPECIAL band will perform at Walleye Weekend 2013 on Friday, June 7.
Walleye Weekend is right around the corner and each year features more than 15 live bands on four music stages to kick off the start of summer. This year will be no exception to that with national recording artist .38 Special on Friday, June 7 from 9 to 10:30 p.m.
".38 Special will provide a blast to the festival when they perform on the opening evening of Walleye Weekend," said Leanne Doyle, executive director of Fond du Lac Festivals, Inc. "Their music has a southern rock influence and has endured for years. We are excited and know Fond du Lac will have a great time listening to them."
Since their formation in 1976 in Jacksonville, Fla., .38 Special has released countless hits on more than 15 albums. Their multi-platinum and gold chart toppers have helped sell more that 20 million albums worldwide and allowed for instant star recognition. Guests of Walleye Weekend will be able to sing along from the first cord to classic hits like Hold On Loosely, Rockin' Into the Night and Fantasy Girl.
"It's unbelievable that we have .38 Special coming to Fond du Lac for Walleye Weekend to entertain the large crowds on Friday night!," said Dean Vollmer, president of the Fond du Lac Festivals Board of Directors. I can't wait to hear all their great tunes and sounds. I remember seeing them for the first time back in the mid 80's at the old Milwaukee County Stadium."
.38 Special describes their unique sound as Southern Rock and brings the same level of excitement and attitude to each and every one of their shows. Having been touring for over 33 years, .38 Special knows how to put on a good show. In 2012, 38 Special was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame for their influence on American Music.
In addition to .38 Special, guests of Walleye Weekend can rock out to acts like Rooftop Jumpers, Separate Ways, The Presidents, Chasin Mason and Love Monkeys. With over 40 musical acts, there is something for everyone.
Walleye Weekend 2013 will be held June 7, 8 and 9 at Lakeside Park and is sponsored by Mercury Marine, Pepsi Beverages Co., and Miller Lite. For more information, please visit the Fond du Lac Festivals website at www.iwalleyeweekend.com.
