Letter: Leifheit does financial homework

Editor: I am happy to see Amber Leifeit running for another term on the Marshfield Board of Education. We served together during part of her last term, and I was impressed by how she studied issues carefully before taking action.

Amber is someone who does her homework. To cite one example, I observed how she got up to speed on school finance. Before deciding to run, she spent several hours with me (then the board treasurer) and also with the district director of Business Services. Even before she won the election and took her seat on the board, she had an excellent understanding of the school finance system, and the issues faced by our district.

School finance in Wisconsin is a complicated mess, but a school board member must understand it in order to be effective. And that's hard work - much more difficult than simply memorizing a fact or two. Amber is one who puts in the hard work, and I am pleased to endorse her.
