After years of stalled and incomplete efforts, state officials promise that Wisconsin residents soon may get a detailed look at state contracts, grants and salary information that so far have been, at best, difficult to find.

Officials told Gannett Wisconsin Media they plan to launch OpenBook Wisconsin, an online site that will shine light on how the state is spending public money.

However, they've released few details and no start date. ...
