March 17, 1953 - Norbertines get property for new Abbey: Donation of a site for a new St. Norbert Abbey in De Pere by Victor McCormick to the Norbertine Fathers was announced by Abbot S.M. Killeen, O.Praem., executive vice president of St. Norbert College.

The property includes the largest part of the 127-acre site which was recently annexed to the City of De Pere. The Abbey site lies between the upper and lower De Pere roads and the previous north boundary of De Pere to the Wisconsin Public Service Corp. high line.

Abbot Killeen described the gift as "the largest single donation received by the Norbertine Order in this country. For our community, I can only say that Mr. McCormick's gift is an answer to our prayers. We have sought property for a new Abbey for some time, and this is the answer. It's as fine a piece of property for the Abbey as could be found."
