The Friday fish fry gets all the homespun dining glory in Northeastern Wisconsin, but when it comes to the joy of greasy fingers and a full stomach, Sunday chicken dinner is right up there.

Along country roads and state highways, on small-town main streets, mom-and-pop destinations have quietly been keeping alive a sabbath tradition that for so many is lovingly associated with the family kitchen of their childhood.
