You could start a sentence about Gordon Hintz entering the thick of his fourth term representing Oshkosh in the State Assembly in many different ways. No matter how you tell it, the back story is filled with all of the makings of a classic drama: sin, swearing and a central character possessing an unusually sharp intellect and magnetism. As you turn the pages, you can't help but want to see this character succeed, only to see his quest collapse in self-destruction. Ultimately, you're not sure if you love or loathe the protagonist.
