Officials take threats seriously when schools are involved

When authorities learned a Nekoosa student threatened to bring a gun to school Monday, they took immediate action and locked down the building.

The staff then sent the high school students home while authorities searched for weapons. No weapons were found, but officials don't regret the decision to close the school for the rest of the day.

When people make any kind of threat against a school, law enforcement officials have to take those threats seriously, Wisconsin Rapids Police Lt. Brian Krzykowski said. ...
