Baker Battle hopes to create new business in Marshfield

For years, residents of Marshfield have been crying out for a bakery. Soon their wishes might be answered.

Main Street Marshfield held its Baker Battle competition Sunday at the Holiday Inn and Convention Center, 750 S. Central Ave. The winner will receive $500 and opportunities for other incentives if they decide to open up a bakery in Marshfield.

"For years, we've been hearing that there is no bakery in Marshfield," said Denise Sonnemann, the executive director of Main Street Marshfield. "We decided to come up with some idea to get (one). The end result is we want someone to open up a bakery." ...
