ASHWAUBENON - Brian Nelsen has been named the new Ashwaubenon High School principal.

Nelsen, who is the district's director of pupil services, will succeed Mark Sheedy, who is retiring June 30. Sheedy has been principal since 1998.

Nelsen was selected from a pool of internal candidates, according to the district. He holds degrees in education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Marian College and is working on a doctorate in education degree from Edgewood College.

He has served in Ashwaubenon as Parkview Middle School principal and associate principal at Ashwaubenon High School.

He also was a special education teacher in Pulaski and Green Bay.
