The 70-year-old Appleton man who died Sunday after his car left U.S. 41 and hit a tree has been identified as Donald Liebergen.

The crash occurred at 10:15 a.m. about 750 feet south of Brown County S, according to the State Patrol. Liebergen was driving a 2002 Chevy Impala when he left the roadway, entered a ditch and continued through a fence before he hit a tree.

Liebergen, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

The State Patrol is investigating and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
