Hailing from Alaska's capital city of Juneau and currently touring in the "lower 48," the Alaska String Band will perform its Best of Americana music in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Chestnut Avenue Center for the Arts, 208 S. Chestnut Ave.

This is a return appearance for the dynamic five-member Zahasky family band; their previous Chestnut Center show was in March 2011.

In performances that move along at a lively pace, Alaska String Band showcases American roots music, touching on genres including bluegrass, swing, jazz, pop, gospel, Celtic, Cajun, as well as original pieces. ...
