Future of health department in limbo

City looks at merging services with Brown County

As the De Pere Common Council went late into the night Tuesday as it resumed talks on two significant issues, it may be faced with another important decision in the near future.

The city's Board of Health made a recommendation by a narrow vote of 3-2 at its meeting Monday night to have the council consider - possibly sooner than later - doing away with the health department in De Pere.

On the table potentially as early as the council's next meeting April 3, a day after the spring election, would be three options for how health services would be administered for city residents and business owners. ...
