Have you filled out your bracket? Maybe multiple brackets?

The play-in games started Tuesday and continue today, and the NCAA men's basketball tournament begins in earnest Thursday, sapping the nation's daytime productivity and slowing all of our Internet connections.

It's going to be great.

Three-seeded Marquette faces Davidson on Thursday. Wisconsin got a five seed in the tournament and will face 12th-seeded Mississippi at 11:40 a.m. Friday. If all goes according to rankings, the Badgers could end up in a rematch against their Big 10 tournament foes Ohio State in the Elite Eight.

But, as the sports media have observed, this year in particular, the NCAA tournament seems wide open and ripe for shocking upsets. There have been five different teams ranked No. 1 in the Associated Press poll through the course of the year, and even those rankings seem unsatisfying. (Looking at you, Gonzaga.) College basketball this year has been a roller-coaster ride, up to and including Wisconsin's strong performance in the Big 10 tourney, where the Badgers knocked off No. 1-seeded Indiana before falling to No. 2-seeded Ohio State.

Upsets are part of what makes the tournament exciting - as long as they aren't upsets of our team, of course. And the NCAA tournament is still one of the year's great sporting events. We're settling in for a wild one this year.
