Early morning fire destroys Saratoga home (with video)

A home was destroyed early Tuesday morning by a fire that could be seen from more than a mile away.

At 2:39 a.m. Tuesday, the Rome Fire Department, assisted by the Grand Rapids Fire Department, responded to a fire at 2427 Tamarack Trail, the home of Tim Laporte, Rome Assistant Fire Chief Winn Powers said.

Firefighters could see the flames from Highway 13 as they approached the area, Powers said. ...
