McKinley Elementary School students and community members have wrapped their arms around a southside Appleton family after a medical tragedy changed an 8-year-old's life forever.

Yaneli Reynoso, a McKinley second-grader, went to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee in November for a stomach illness and suffered a heart attack while undergoing treatment, her sister Cristina Reynoso said. Yaneli spent a month in a coma and suffered brain damage.

While she is now alert and back home, Yaneli requires a wheelchair and feeding tube. ...
