The Dale Cafe closed Saturday at W9718 U.S. 96 in Dale, and will reopen as a restaurant called Southern Flair on April 1 under new ownership.

“My husband had some health problems with cancer and it became harder for me to be there and be home with him,” said outgoing owner Deb Chonos in an email. “Everyone was a great help, but I was the main cook and it just was getting too hard on me to keep up the pace with that and with home. I loved and am going to miss the great people that I meet through the business.”

Southern Flair’s owners Rose Stafford, originally from Texas, and Kristy De Champs, originally from Alabama, are currently cleaning and preparing the space.

“We’re going to specialize in comfort food and southern hospitality,” said Stafford.
