Letters: Unions help support middle class

5:56 PM, Mar. 20, 2013  |  Comments

Right-to-work laws are wrong for Wisconsin and will hurt workers and the middle class. As a union member having worked with the tools for over 20 years, I am not the enemy. I get up every morning and head to work in order to pay the bills.

I am proud to do my fair share and pay my union dues. I made that choice when I decided to work in a union job. I know that my dues go to the greater good. My union dues allow me to join my brothers and sisters to negotiate a good contract with decent wages and benefits for all of us.

It's not fair if some people get to keep those benefits without paying their fair share of the cost.

Unions have given me a pathway into the middle class. I am thankful to not only have a job, but to have a union job.
