Despite an ominous looking number, there are indications more people are looking for work - and finding jobs- in and around Green Bay than at the same point last year.

The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development issued local employment and unemployment estimates for January on Wednesday.

The Green Bay area saw the seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate bump up to 7.3 percent from 6.1 percent in December. That's due in part to end-of-the-year data adjustments and seasonal slowdowns in a number of employment sectors. ...
