There is an important election coming up on April 2. The next justice of the state of Wisconsin Supreme Court will be selected and additionally, a number of key local positions also will be on the ballot. These include city clerk, city attorney, city treasurer/comptroller and school board.

I am writing to ask for your support of our current city clerk, John Moe. I have known John and his wife, Julie Lassa, for a number of years and know firsthand that he is hard working and dedicated to serving the residents of Stevens Point as our city clerk.

A major responsibility of the city clerk is to coordinate the elections in Stevens Point. John has done an excellent job assuring that the election process is carried out in a professional, ethical and legal manner. He provides thorough and professional training to poll workers before each election to assure the integrity of the vote and to provide voters with a positive experience. He is careful to avoid any display of his personal opinions during training or during the election process. The election process is complex, with many laws and procedures to follow and John stays current with them, utilizing the Government Accountability Board or his peers for clarifications as needed.

There are many additional duties including those in support of the City Council meetings and providing information and licensing to citizens and local businesses. John takes these duties very seriously and he and his very capable staff do an excellent job. John's leadership, education and knowledge of the job make him the best candidate for this position.

Please join me in voting to re-elect John Moe for city clerk on April 2.
