Letter: Police officer to help veterans

I would like to take this opportunity to commend the city of Stevens Point Police Chief Kevin Ruder for taking the initiative and being proactive. In an effort to reach out to veterans in our area, Chief Ruder created an additional duty responsibility and assigned police officer Michael Bink as the new Stevens Point Police Department Veterans Liaison Officer. Other communities in the state have also assigned officers to this type of duty.

I look forward to working with officer Bink on this outreach initiative to veterans and expanding the lines of communication between veterans in our community and law enforcement. The Veterans Liaison Officer can be contacted at 715-346-1500.
