Church Mutual has record year, new chairman

A relatively benign Mother Nature helped Church Mutual Insurance Co. set several revenue and sales records in 2012, according to a company news release issued Wednesday.

Church Mutual, which insures houses of worship across the country, recorded 8,000 fewer claims in 2012 as compared with 2011, the release said. The company's sales force generated $591 million in premiums, the ninth year in a row it has topped the $500 million mark, the release said.

The company, which insures 96,000 churches, temples and related structures, recorded 30,574 claims in 2012, the lowest total since 1994. ...
