March 22, 1950 - Hearing set on Allouez assessments: The state department of taxation will hold a public hearing in the Allouez town hall March 24 to determine whether a reassessment of all taxable property in the township should be ordered. A copy of the department's order for the hearing was received here today by Attorney Fred Trowbridge, counsel for the Township.

The hearing order follows the filing of a petition signed by 106 property owners who constitute the owners of more than five percent of the taxable property as required by state law for such petitions. Their petition follows several years of argument about whether assessed values in Allouez are equitable.

If the tax department finds sufficient evidence that the reassessment request is valid, it will order the work to be done with the costs to be assessed against the township.

In 1949, Allouez had a local assessment of $5,913,694 and an equalized valuation of $10,694,750.
