Whitelaw man sentenced for fifth OWI

A 40-year-old Whitelaw man, whose vehicle nearly collided with a motorcycle, was found guilty of his fifth-offense operating while intoxicated.

Manitowoc Circuit Judge Gary Bendix on March 14 withheld the sentence for Jon L. Schmidt, 712 Packer Drive, and placed him on probation for three years. Conditions of probation included spending 10 months in jail with work-release privileges starting immediately, and paying $3,540.50 in fines and costs.
