Council considers city pay plan options

Marshfield City Council members and city officials met Friday morning to review two proposed employee classification and pay plans, which would apply to nonrepresented city employees.

The plan selected by the council will replace what had traditionally been decided during union negotiations with city employees before the state restricted public employee unions' negotiating powers.

One option would allow employees hired at the lowest pay rate for their positions to advance to the market pay rate over a five-year period. ...
